Service Opportunity: We are partnering with CHW in their after-school tutoring and English language learning program. Students will help youth in grades 6-12 with reading development, or adults, with English language development, through one-on-one conversations. | Location: Virtual | Dates: Monday’s - Thursday’s | Time: Sessions are one hour, between 3:00pm - 6:00pm, 2 times per week | Service Credits: 15
YOUNG LIFE (CLOSED)
Service Opportunity: Young Life volunteers have the opportunity to impact students in the LA region with the gospel of Christ through serving as leaders, club helpers or ministry specialists. Leaders interact weekly with students doing contact, club and Bible Studies as available (Year-long Commitment) | Location: Duarte-Monrovia, Mt. Baldy, and Walnut | Dates: Varies throughout the week | Time: TBD | Service Credits: 30
Homework House (CLOSED)
Service Opportunity: We partner with Neighborhood Homework House whose mission is to partner with parents of at-risk, Azusa students to equip them to thrive academically, socially, and spiritually. Students serve as tutors and mentors for small groups of students, grades PK through 12, in the program. | Location: Azusa, CA | Service Credits: 15 for volunteering once a week (E.g. Tuesdays at 3:00pm) or 30 for volunteering twice a week (E.g. Mondays 3:00pm & 4:45pm)

Dream Center ADOPT-A-BLOCK (FULL)
Service Opportunity: As a ministry of the Dream Center, Adopt a Block serves over 150 communities weekly through immediate food and hygiene relief with the hope of offering additional holistic resources for individuals experiencing homelessness and hunger. Students build relationships with people in various communities of Los Angeles and serve them through relief assistance and prayer. | Location: Dream Center, Los Angeles | Dates: 2 Saturday’s per month | Time: 8:00am-2:00pm | Service Credits: 15
My Third Place (FULL)
Service Opportunity: We partner with My Third Place whose mission is to cultivate environments for teens to grow in faith, develop character, and mature relationally through mentorship and discipleship. Volunteers form deep, meaningful relationships with youth through tutoring, group, mentoring, and other activities, grades 6-12 | Location: Azusa High, Foothill Middle School, Lee Elementary, and local parks. | Dates: Tuesdays and Thursdays | Time: 11:30-1:00 at school campuses or 2:30-5:00 at local parks | Service Credits: 15 for once a week, 30 for twice a week, 30 for interning.
***My Third Place is also looking for 3+ interns to work 8-10 hours a week, one assigned to each school campus. Interns would oversee the several mentors who volunteer there among other things. If you are interested, please email localengagement@apu.edu and we will connect you with My Third Place.
OPEN DOOR SOCCER LEAGUE (ODSL) (FULL)
Service Opportunity: We partner with Church of the Open Door to run a free youth soccer program for kids in the community. Students serve as coaches and referees for the participants, ages 4-12. | Location: Church of the Open Door, Glendora, CA | Dates: 10/2, 10/9, 10/16, 10/23 | Time: 8:15am - 11:15am | Service Credits: 15
YOUNG LIFE CAPERNAUM (FULL)
Service Opportunity: We partner with Young Life Capernaum, which is a ministry of Young Life, and a relationally based service for differently-abled children and youth in Azusa and Glendora. Students help set up and facilitate various activities and build lasting relationships with youth and families. | Location: Glendora & Pasadena | Dates: 2 Friday’s per month | Time: 5:30pm - 8:00pm | Service Credits: 15 | YLC Volunteer Video: Check it out here
YOUNG LIVES (FULL)
Service Opportunity: Young Lives is a branch of Young Life that ministers to teen moms. Volunteers will provide childcare for mothers of the program at a church in Pasadena during a Young Lives meeting. This ministry works to support these young mothers by giving a respite during these support meetings. | Location: TBD | Dates: Friday’s | Time: TBD | Service Credits: 15
Community Meals (Full)
Service Opportunity: As a ministry of Foothill Community Church in the city of Azusa, Community Meals exists to provide food relief to those who are experiencing homelessness and hunger in the community. Students help prepare, serve, and clean up for each meal. | Location: Foothill Community Church | Dates: Saturdays (3-4 times per semester) | Time: 9:00am-1:00pm | Service Credits: 15
Global Engagement
WASHINGTON DC (FULL)
Dates: November 18-23, 2021 | Organization: Young Life Expeditions | Cost: $1,375.00 | Service Opportunity: This team will help with various worship services which provide opportunities for the team to bring their gifts of music, worship, drama, testimonies, and more. This team will also help serve through a Thanksgiving outreach on Saturday where turkeys and fixings are handed out to community members. This team may also serve meals to people experiencing homelessness, help in food pantries, and other projects. Lastly, this team will spend half a day visiting monuments, museums, and other historical sights in DC. | Team Size: TBD | Service Credits: 30
