During their trip, the team will get to know the local culture and many wonderful people as they stay with Costa Rican host families. Each day, the team meets up at the local community center where they spend time connecting with God before heading out to various ministry sites, which include: a Boys and Girls club, Creative Arts, Education, Sports, and women’s social work/microfinance opportunities. Students International will work with the team before the trip to place each member at a site that fits their vocational interests. Dominican Republic
Dates: May 8 - June 6, 2023 | Cost: $3,175.00 | Trip overview: Based in Jarabacoa, this team will partner with Kids Alive International. Each week, the team will work at one of the seven schools and three residential campuses run by Kids Alive to engage with children in the following ways: sports ministry, art classes, English classes, math classes, and Bible and AWANA classes. Along with that, the team will help as needed in medical and nutrition programs, organizational projects, and maintenance and construction projects. Additionally, team members will visit impoverished barrios and be exposed to proven practices of holistic ministry for transforming lives for God's glory. Dates: May 8-31, 2023 | Cost: $3,675.00 | Trip overview: Located in Athens, Greece, the One Collective team is partnering with the Second Greek Evangelical Church of Athens as they use community development ministry to engage their city. The ministry focuses on poor and marginalized populations including those experiencing homelessness, low-income youth and kids, and refugees. This team will participate in homeless feeding ministries twice a week, shower and laundry ministries for homeless men and women, coffee house outreaches for low income groups, Friday night kid's and youth community outreach for low-income populations in the neighborhood, local park outreaches for neighborhood kids and youth, ESL teaching opportunities, sport outreaches with youth or refugees, and partner with the local youth group for special events. This team will also have the chance to visit several ministry partners in the area to see how God is working in various areas of need. Ideas of Christianity, Christ, and the Gospel are part of the lexicon, but they are often misunderstood, with organized religion distrusted in many quarters of Irish culture. As such, ministry is relational - walking alongside people, not seeing them as projects but knowing them as people. This team will participate in different forms of ministry, but the likely avenues for service are in the context of an after-school club and family outreach in the inner city, care and relief of the homeless in the city center, and supporting ongoing Gospel ministry in and around Dublin. During this trip, the team will partner with various ministries on anti-human trafficking efforts, working with victims of sexual exploitation, and assisting ministries that work in the Red Light District. Ministry partners include: Bright Fame, an organization that provides social services to help women out of prostitution. The team will learn from the organization and help them spread the word about their services to the women in the district. Along with that, the team will have the opportunity to have dinner in an indigenous village. Dates: May 8 - June 9, 2023 | Cost: $2,925.00 | Trip overview: Partner with Kids International Ministries in the Philippines as they work to break the cycle of poverty in the communities around them. The organization provides a multitude of programs that both meet needs and empower the community. This team will be two-fold: a focus on youth ministry and worship outreach as well as a focus on pre-natal care. During the days, part of the team will prep for youth ministry and have mentoring opportunities while part of the team is helping with the pre-natal care program (these members must be nursing students). At night, the team will lead worship and put on youth programs. The team will work with kids from ages 8 all the way through high school aged kids, having the chance to mentor and facilitate bible studies. The purpose of these camps is to provide fun and effective language learning for campers, expose them to the Gospel and connect them to a local church where they can be discipled and grow in their faith. During the trip, the team will serve and be responsible for multiple aspects of camp, including teaching English, leading games, hosting nightly parties, and building key relationships with campers. Josiah Venture will provide training for teams prior to and during their trip. You will also have the opportunity to stay in some local homes to meet families and experience a little bit of Polish culture and hospitality. During their time in Limpopo, the team will be hosted by JAM ministries. JAM is focused on developing leaders who will impact Africa for Christ. The team will get to go into local villages with JAM to interact with youth serving at an after-school program (kids ministry (soccer), helping with tutoring 2-7th graders). spain & morocco
Dates: May 8-30, 2023 | Cost: $4,025.00 | Trip overview: Join One Challenge in southern Spain as they work with and begin to understand the experience of trafficked individuals, immigrants and refugees. This would include a prayer trip to Morocco, to understand the situation of many of the migrants in southern Spain. The team will partner with Diez42 (Ten42), a community center to meet the needs to the most vulnerable in Málaga. There will be opportunity to work with individuals from dozens of different nations, serving them through food distribution and social integration. Along with that, there will be exposure to other ministries working with trafficked individuals and immigrants. After Málaga, the team will also travel up about two hours to an area near Almería, mostly populated by trafficked individuals working in the "Sea of Plastic", Europe's greenhouse. The team will be serving migrants through different ministries. If you struggle to know where you fit in God's kingdom on earth as it will be in heaven then Apotheca is the experience that fits for you. This team will learn how to integrate work with worship in the everyday. They will experience ways God is working through local business owners, farmers, and local leaders and learn how to apply and experience the gospel in the ordinary. Pilgrim House is a ministry of hospitality that serves pilgrims who have just completed the walk. During the first part of their trip, the team will be pilgrims and walk between 7-11 days of the Camino. After they finish the Camino and arrive in Santiago, they will serve with the Pilgrim House, offering support and resources for other newly-arrived pilgrims. This team will be take part in prayer ministry while visiting some of the spiritually darkest and least reached places in Thailand, including many Thai Buddhist temples. In addition to prayer ministry, there will also be opportunities for ministering in Bangkok's red-light districts and on college campuses. GEM teams trip
Dates: May 12-24, 2023 | Cost: $3,050.00 | Trip overview: This team will join GEM ministries as they work to respond to the Ukrainian refugee crisis in Europe. The situation on the ground in Europe is constantly changing and the needs shift on a daily basis. Due to that fact, this project will be planned without being able to determine the final location and exact nature of service until much closer to the project date. GEM is responding to the current Ukrainian refugee situation by developing two Response Hubs - Bucharest, Romania and Prague, Czech Republic. These Hubs have a 3-pronged approach: relief now, support in the transition, and multiplication of the gospel. As the war continues, the needs of the refugees and those serving them change and evolve. This team would need to be prepared to respond to the current need on the ground. In Bucharest, a group of Romanian churches are working together to care for and house Ukrainian refugees. GEM is partnering with this group in a number of ways. Teams have been involved in a wide range of tasks including: cleaning the facilities, laundry, playing with children, setting up beds, organizing donations, light construction and more. In Prague, a wide range of churches and ministries are doing a wide range of activities including: kids clubs, feeding programs, warehouse distribution centers, language classes, community events, and more. While this team would not know where it is going right away, they would get to practice what it looks like to respond to the most pressing need in front of them. Flexibility will be key for this team and a deep desire to care for refugees no matter where you are is necessary | Host organization: GEM Teams | Team size: 6-12
