ONE-TIME OPPORTUNITIES

Spring 2025

One-time opportunities are worth 5 service credits. Partner organizations for each opportunity have been vetted by the Office of Service and Discipleship and provide APU students a meaningful opportunity to serve in the local area. APU students are expected to arrive on-time, serve for the duration of their shift, and to represent the university with humility, love, and kindness.

Murray Mindfulness Fair

Passionate about mental health and social emotional learning in your local community? Looking for a volunteer opportunity that is fun, artistic, and impactful?

Murray Elementary School is hosting its 1st Annual Murray Mindfulness Fair on Friday, April 11th and we need your help! We are looking for multiple APU student volunteers to help us run hands-on activity booths for students and community members to help promote understanding of coping and emotional regulation strategies to improve student social emotional learning and mental health. Some featured activities include DIY stress balls, gratitude journals, self-affirmation buttons, kindness cards, fidget bracelets, slime, sensory bottles, bubble breathing station, a fitness station and more!

Volunteers will be assigned a station and given information about the impact of that particular strategy on the human body or mind, and how it can help individuals cope with stress, anxiety, anger, and other emotions. Students will visit booths throughout the afternoon to engage in these activities alongside you and learn new coping skills while creating their own SEL tools! Later in the afternoon, caregivers and community members will come on campus to explore the fair to learn and create as well. This opportunity allows APU students to connect with members of the community while uplifting the importance of mental health and social emotional learning in an impactful, fun, and lasting way.
