ONE-TIME OPPORTUNITIES
All one-time opportunities are worth 5 service credits. Partner organizations for each opportunity have been vetted by the Office of Service and Discipleship and provide APU students a meaningful opportunity to serve in the local area. APU students are expected to arrive on-time, serve for the duration of their shift, and to represent the university with humility, love, and kindness.

Green Care Day
Date: September 14, 2024

Organization: Bradoaks Elementary School
Description: "Participate in Green Care Day and help to fix Bradoaks Elementary School's education garden!-Bradoaks and FoodED will use this space for educational projects and partner with classes to learn more about climate change & the stewardship of our environment. Projects will mostly include mulching the garden site, weeding and other garden tasks as needed. -No experience necessary; tools and gloves provided. Bathrooms on site. Water and light bites provided, but encouraged to bring water and a hat, and wear close-toed shoes.
Huntington Beach Cleanup

Organization: Azusa Coastal Cleanup
Description: Azusa Coastal Cleanup is an exciting and impactful way to gain service credits. We will be taking care of our coastline by gathering trash littered across Huntington Beach. The day will be filled with both service and fun and we can not wait to see you there.
Birth to 5 Seminar

Organization: Parents' Place FRC
Description: Parents' Place is gearing up for their annual Birth to 5 Seminar, which focuses on the social and emotional development of young children. Students will assist with setup, cleanup, snack area, and registration. This is a great opportunity to support your community and make a difference in the lives of young families.

HOPE’s Investing in Dreams Event

Description: Do you want to make a difference for an organization that is alleviating spiritual and material poverty in underserved areas of the world? For 27 years, HOPE has been providing Christ-centered financial services to alleviate spiritual, social, and material poverty through the local church. Join HOPE International for its 'Investing in Dreams' event. Students will have the opportunity to greet, help register and guide guests through an inspiring evening! Specifically, you will help with greeting, check-in, assembling auction items and assisting attendees with their phones access the bidding for the silent auction, opportunity drawings and the vendors we will have selling items. HOPE is expecting 700 guests for a silent/live auction, dinner along with worship and praise while we raise funds to fuel the work God is doing to propel families out of poverty.
manhattan Beach Cleanup

The day will be filled with art, food, vendors and music! You'll be setting up tables and chairs for 200 people at a home in Altadena. Your time includes snacks or a meal depending upon your shift.

Night of Champions

Location: Dillon Recreation Complex
Description: APU Campus-Night of Champions is a fun filled day with a rich history of impacting local youth for Christ. We have a variety of areas where you can serve from registration, to hanging out with kids, to answering questions about faith and helping youth come to Christ. Come join us to have some fun, enjoy free food, and use the gifts God has given you to serve local youth in our community! All volunteers will receive a t-shirt and free In N Out meal.
